ASSEN | Jaylen Korporaal wrapped up his 2026 Moto4 Northern Cup season at the TT Circuit Assen last weekend. In a weekend dominated by rapidly changing weather conditions, the young Dutch rider once again showed plenty of speed and determination. After an impressive charge through the field on Saturday and a tenth-place finish on Sunday, Korporaal ends the championship seventh overall.

The unpredictable weather made conditions difficult throughout the entire weekend. During qualifying, the riders had to deal with a drying track. Korporaal struggled to find the rhythm he was looking for and qualified in sixteenth position.

Impressive charge through the field in wet Race 1

Conditions were completely different again for Saturday’s opening race. The track was wet and treacherous, and after a difficult start Korporaal came out of the first corner in twentieth position.

From there, he began an impressive fightback. Showing strong pace in the wet, Korporaal steadily worked his way through the field. He eventually climbed all the way up to fourth position and looked set for an excellent result.

Unfortunately, his charge came to a premature end when he crashed and was unable to finish the race.

“It was obviously really disappointing for Race 1 to end like that, especially after coming all the way from P20 to P4. We had really strong pace in the wet and I felt good on the bike. When you’re in that position, you obviously want to bring the result home as well.”

Championship points in dry Race 2

Sunday’s second race was held in dry conditions. Korporaal did not quite have the feeling with the bike that he needed to challenge further towards the front, but still managed to put together a solid race.

After a challenging weekend, he brought the bike home in tenth position and scored more championship points in the final race of the season.

“In Race 2, I just didn’t have the feeling I needed to really make progress towards the front. Sometimes you have to accept what is possible on the day. With P10, we were still able to finish the weekend with some points.”

Seventh in the championship

The races at Assen also marked the end of the 2026 Moto4 Northern Cup season. Korporaal finishes the championship in a strong seventh position overall.

It is a result that Jaylen and his team can look back on with pride. The season produced plenty of highlights, but also its share of setbacks. According to Korporaal, those difficult moments have only made the team stronger.

“It hasn’t always been an easy season, but I’m incredibly proud of what we have achieved together as a team. We kept fighting and those battles are exactly what make us stronger. Even though the final weekend didn’t go completely the way we had hoped, we still had a lot of fun together.”

Korporaal also wanted to thank everyone who supported him throughout the season.

“Thank you to everyone who came to Assen this weekend and to everyone who has followed and supported me throughout the season. A huge thank you especially to all of my sponsors. Without you, it simply wouldn’t be possible for me to do this. Thank you for your trust and support!”

With seventh place in the final championship standings, an intense and educational Moto4 Northern Cup season comes to an end. It has been another year of progress for Korporaal and one that gives him and his team a strong foundation to build on for the future.
